Summer Computer Workshop for English Teachers

Michigan Technological University will offer its third annual summer workshop for English teachers who want to incorporate computers into their writing-intensive classes. Workshop sessions will be run by Dr. Cynthia Selfe, co-editor of Computers & Composition and will cover such topics as setting up a computer-supported writing lab and classroom, evaluating computer-assisted instruction, ethical implications of computer use in writing programs, teaching techniques for computer supported classes, grading with computers. All sessions will be held in a computer lab/classroom especially designed for English teachers.

No previous computer experience is necessary for participants. All participants will be given one-on-one help in learning and developing computer applications for their own classrooms and programs. Teachers from all instructional levels are welcome! For further information, contact
